Born in Johannesburg and brought up in the Free State, Carol Elphick studied BA (Creative Art) at Stellenbosch University and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator until she went farming in the Knysna district.

She started painting in earnest about 10 years ago. She makes her own frames and stretches her own canvases. On the Garden Route, Carol paints beach scenes and her favourite landscapes of the Little Karoo. Recently, while living temporarily in Limpopo, she concentrated on bushveld landscapes and game.

Carol’s husband, Kevin, died of pancreatic cancer at the beginning of April 2019 and she herself is being treated for breast cancer.
